Day 2: Trek Across the Pokljuka Plateau – Alpine Meadows & Panoramic Views
Your trekking adventure begins with a brief morning transfer to the Pokljuka Plateau (1,280 m), a vast alpine expanse covered in dense fir forests and rolling mountain pastures. This area serves as the starting point for numerous trails leading into the Julian Alps, offering a perfect warm-up before heading into the high mountains.
The morning hike traverses lush meadows adorned with rustic wooden shepherd huts, eventually reaching Lipanska Hut, where you can stop for a traditional hiker’s lunch. In the afternoon, follow a scenic panoramic trail that reveals breathtaking views of the Karawanke range, Krma Valley, and Bohinj Mountains. As the trail winds across open ridgelines and through fragrant pine forests, the stunning landscape of Triglav National Park reveals itself in all its splendor.
Your day concludes at the Pokljuka Biathlon Center, a serene mountain retreat where you will relax before embarking on tomorrow's journey deeper into the Julian Alps.

Day 3: Into the Heart of the Julian Alps – Hike to Planika Hut
After an early breakfast, your journey into the high mountains begins. Leaving the Pokljuka Plateau behind, the trail gradually ascends into the rugged heart of Triglav National Park, where the raw beauty of the Julian Alps surrounds you.
The path winds through alpine meadows and rocky outcrops, offering glimpses of jagged peaks and deep valleys. A stop at Vodnikov Dom hut provides an ideal opportunity for a midday break, allowing you to rest and savor a traditional Slovenian mountain meal before tackling the final ascent.
As you climb higher, the landscape transforms into a more dramatic and desolate scene, characterized by towering limestone cliffs that line the trail. Your destination for the night is Planika Hut (2,401 m), situated just below Mount Triglav (2,864 m), Slovenia’s highest peak. Spending the night in a traditional mountain hut dormitory, surrounded by an unparalleled alpine panorama.

Day 4: Across Hribarice Pass to the Valley of the Triglav Lakes
After a hearty breakfast at Planika Hut, you embark on a spectacular trek through the high alpine wilderness of Triglav National Park. The day begins with a steady ascent to Hribarice Pass (2,358 m), a vast, rugged plateau that provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
From this point, the trail gradually descends into the Valley of the Triglav Lakes, one of the park’s most iconic and picturesque landscapes. Along the way, take a moment to admire Zeleno Jezero (Green Lake), named for the vibrant green hues created by its high algae content. The lake’s tranquil beauty and mirror-like reflections make it a perfect resting spot.
Continuing through the valley, you will be rewarded with stunning views of the remaining Triglav Lakes, which are scattered like glistening jewels across the dramatic alpine terrain. The day concludes at Koča pri Triglavskih Jezerih Hut (1,685 m), a charming mountain refuge situated beside one of the valley’s larger lakes.

Day 5: Journey Through the Triglav Lakes Valley to Komna Hut
Leaving Koča pri Triglavskih Jezerih Hut, the trail leads westward, gradually descending through the alpine terrain of Triglav National Park. Today's journey takes you deeper into the Valley of the Triglav Lakes, passing through lush forests and rocky plateaus on the way to the lowest-lying and warmest of the lakes—Črno Jezero (Black Lake).
Nestled in a forested basin, the lake gets its name from the dense tree cover that stretches right to the water’s edge, giving the lake its dark, mysterious appearance. Take a moment to appreciate the tranquil surroundings and reflect on the pristine beauty of this remote wilderness.
From this point, the trail gradually ascends toward Komna Hut (1,520 m), your resting place for the night. The hut offers stunning views of Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest glacial lake, which stretches out below in the valley.

After breakfast at Komna Hut, your journey continues with a scenic descent along an old military road that leads to Savica Waterfall, one of Slovenia’s most famous natural landmarks. This majestic cascade plunges 78 meters from a high alpine karst spring and serves as the primary source of Lake Bohinj, creating a connection between Slovenia’s rugged mountain landscapes and its largest glacial lake.
From this point, the trail follows the northern shore of Lake Bohinj, a serene and pristine paradise framed by majestic peaks. Upon arriving in the village of Ribčev Laz, treat yourself to a taste of local tradition by warming up with homemade honey brandy and schnapps at a cozy lakeside bar.

For those eager to continue their exploration, the route winds through idyllic alpine villages, where traditional wooden houses and flower-filled meadows create a picturesque scene of rural Slovenia. The trail gently ascends to Rudnica Hill (946 m), a perfect viewpoint that offers a final panoramic farewell over the lake and surrounding peaks—a moment to reflect on the incredible journey through Triglav National Park.
Tonight, return to your comfortable hotel, where you can celebrate the completion of your adventure with a peaceful evening in Slovenia’s alpine paradise.

- Luggage transfers are not included between Days 3-6. Your main luggage will be collected at Pokljuka and safely stored in Bled until you arrive in Bohinj at the end of Day 6. As luggage transfer between mountain huts is not possible, ensure your backpack is well-packed with everything you’ll need for the 3 nights spent in mountain huts.
